MANUAL VS AUTOMATED

WHY UPGRADE FROM MANUAL?

A traditional manual bump stop means constant back-and-forth. The Kangastop Tradesman eliminates that completely.

MANUAL BUMP STOP

  • Operator walks to stop between every cut

  • Manual measurement introduces human error

  • Slow change-over between lengths

  • No memory of previous settings

  • Fatigue causes increasing errors over a shift

  • No data capture or record keeping

  • Only one length at a time

KANGASTOP TRADESMAN

  • Operator sets length once on the touchscreen

  • Servo encoder ensures consistent accuracy

  • Instant change-over between programmed lengths

  • Settings stored for repeat jobs

  • Consistent accuracy regardless of operator fatigue

  • Optional label printer for job tracking

  • Over 100% productivity boost vs manual

COMMON QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT MATERIALS CAN THE KANGASTOP TRADESMAN CUT?

The Tradesman works with any saw or cutting machine where a bump stop is used for repetitive measurement. This includes aluminium sections, timber, steel tube and sections, PVC, conduit, and more. It's not limited to any single material type - if your existing saw can cut it, the Tradesman can measure it.

HOW LONG DOES INSTALLATION TAKE?

For a standard installation on an existing conveyor using the mounting kit, most setups can be completed in a few hours. Our team provides full installation guidance and on-site support is available. We also offer a factory demo or Zoom walk-through before purchase.

WHAT DOES THE 10-YEAR WARRANTY COVER?

The Kangastop 10-year warranty covers both parts and labour. Full warranty terms are available on request. This is an industry-leading warranty, made possible by using genuine industrial-grade components rather than consumer-grade alternatives.

CAN I UPGRADE FROM THE TRADESMAN TO THE PLUS OR PRO LATER?

For significant capability upgrades (such as pusher functionality or saw integration), upgrading to a Plus or Pro would typically mean a new unit. However, accessories like the label printer can be added to your Tradesman at any time. Talk to us about your future production goals before purchasing so we can help you choose the right starting point.

ARE CUSTOM LENGTHS AVAILABLE?

Standard lengths are 3.0m, 4.0m, 4.5m, 5.0m, 6.0m, and 6.5m travel. Custom sizes can be manufactured on request — contact us with your requirements for a quote.

WHAT IS A BUMP STOP MEASURING SYSTEM?

A bump stop (also called a length stop or saw stop) is a physical stop that material is pushed against to set the cut length. A motorised bump stop like the Kangastop Tradesman automatically positions itself to your programmed dimension via the touchscreen, rather than requiring an operator to manually adjust it. This eliminates walking time, reduces errors, and dramatically increases throughput.
